An island awakens sadly, an island sheds tears of pain, the muse of history rides through the sky in search of a passionate rider who left in his wake, dreams, lights, conquests, love.
The bereaved nation knows herself to be the daughter of a prodigious being, human of flesh and blood who never knew of fear, of difficult climbs in wild mountains, of enemy attacks, of failed attempts against his life.
Today a clamor springs from the crowd, gains volume and spreads all over the world. The expression ¡Hasta Siempre Comandante !, sticks so deep in the heart to the point of raising the skin for the physical loss of the man who spoke with the language that emanates from purity and reason, from the heart and hope of a people multiplied in all those in Latin America.
He, yes, the statesman who often reiterated that Humanism means Government of people without dictatorships and oligarchies! Freedom with bread without terror! departs to fill the firmament of light to ratify again and again, from sun to night, from day to day, the total fidelity to its historical background.
It rains today on Cuban cities, but none deserts before the call to venerate the man of America. All Cuba is an ear and a voice, from the Cape of San Antonio to Punta de Maisí, is represented by the immortal of flesh and bone whose moral power much overflows in his political power.
It is worth remembering in this writing an exhilarated, perennial and hopeful fragment. Fidel said: "Here in this East of my childhood, where I have always had the inspiration of the highest ideals; In the East where our dreams became reality; In the East that will grow even with the Cuba of all, here I reaffirmed my faith in the destiny of the Fatherland; I ratified the assurance that the Revolution will continue."
The everlasting convocation is only one and we will fulfill it, because Fidel Castro Ruz, is Revolution and Revolution is:
“To have a sense of history; it is changing everything that must be changed; it is full equality and freedom; it is being treated and treating others like human beings; it is achieving emancipation by ourselves and through our own efforts; it is challenging powerful dominant forces from within and without the social and national milieu; it is defending the values in which we believe at the cost of any sacrifice; it is modesty, selflessness, altruism, solidarity and heroism; it is fighting with courage, intelligence and realism; it is never lying or violating ethical principles; it is a profound conviction that there is no power in the world that can crush the power of truth and ideas. Revolution means unity; it is independence, it is fighting for our dreams of justice for Cuba and for the world, which is the foundation of our patriotism, our socialism and our internationalism.”
