Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro Ruz.Havana, Nov 26.- The Victoria de Giron Institute of Basic and Preclinical Sciences has created the Honorific Chair to Study the Life, Work and Thinking of Fidel Castro, on the occasion of the first anniversary of his death on Saturday.

The Chair is aimed at promoting students' and professors' efforts to research about the work by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, its president, Gloria Vecino, said in a communiqué from that educational center.

She added that we plan to promote the development of research on Fidel Castro's legacy, geniality, sensitiveness, austerity, solidarity and many other values that characterized him as a revolutionary.

On the occasion, Dr. Juan Vela, after receiving the Commemorative Medal on the 55th Anniversary of Victoria de Giron, noted Fidel's clear vision of the conception and implementation of the project to train physicians and dentists.

Vela, who is also a professor of the National Public Health School, expressed gratitude for the honor of being a member of that Chair, which will not let the work to which Fidel devoted his entire life die.

The Victoria de Giron Institute of Basic and Preclinical Sciences has graduated more than 80,000 youths from 91 countries from all continents over the past 55 years.

According to Dean Mairim Lago, the center has committed to following Fidel Castro's legacy and to training medical professionals of excellence.
