China allocates US$118 million to recover from natural events. Taken from Prensa Latina.Beijing, Nov 14.- China has allocated 830 million yuan (US$118.6 million) to finance the recovery of several territories devastated by extreme drought, typhoons and earthquakes in recent months, authorities announced on Thursday.

The Ministry of Finance will deliver the largest share of these funds to Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei and Hunan provinces, plus Chongqing municipality, in order to support damage mitigation programs due to the lack of rainfall and ensure drinking water supplies.

In addition, a budget will be distributed among eight other demarcations to undertake infrastructure rehabilitation and aid those affected by floods, earthquakes and consequent landslides.

China has experienced a difficult summer due to the combination of an extreme drought in northeastern and southwestern regions, and incessant downpours in the south.

The situation has persisted in the last two months and such phenomena have left several dead, affected millions of citizens and had a large impact on the economy.
