In 2006, as a result of health issues which were incompatible with the time and effort required to fulfill my duties – which I myself assumed when I entered this University September 4, 1945, 70 years ago – I resigned from my official positions.
Tomorrow, May 9, the 70th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War will be commemorated. Given the time difference, when I elaborate these lines, the soldiers and officers of the Army of the Russian Federation full of pride, they will be exercising on the Red Square in Moscow with the rapid and martial steps that characterize them.
Hardly three days ago we were visited by a high-ranking leader of the Communist Party of Vietnam. Before leaving, he told me he wanted me to write something about my memories of my visit to the liberated territory of Vietnam during its heroic struggle against the Yankee troops in the southern region of that country.
