I have seen Fidel in his people
I have seen a student look at the photo of Fidel so deep that she seemed to lose herself in the immensity of the man and the symbol; I have seen a young woman arrive in a wheelchair and touch her heart, in faithful defiance of human disability; I have seen a grandmother kiss a bouquet of flowers and place it in front of the big picture, in tears, as one who finds no comfort in the farewell; I have seen a veteran fighter stand and salute, firm and ready, as if repeating to the eternal guerrilla fighter: "Commander in Chief, Command."

I recognize him among crowds by the eloquence of his words, by his sincere verb, by the strength of his ideas, by his unmistakable voice.
I will not talk about goodbyes, I refuse to do so. I'm not ready to talk about Fidel's death, and I will never be.
The way of acting and thinking, the works, transcend people beyond their very existence. And so you are Fidel, dear and eternal Commander.
If I am asked to make a wish, I would ask the clouds to welcome you with love in their lap, if I am asked to make a wish, I would ask the stars to illuminate your face marked by the years, but steady, proud to have fulfilled the work of life.
