Russia Denounces Catastrophic Humanitarian Situation in Mosul, Iraq.Moscow, Nov 11.- Russia denounced the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Iraqi city of Mosul, described by UN agencies as more serious than the one in the Syrian city of Aleppo, said today the Foreign Ministry.

UN officials said that from a humanitarian point of view, what happened in Mosul is potentially more serious than the situation in Aleppo, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zajarova.

More than 34,000 people have fled from Mosul seeking refuge not only from the actions taken by the terrorist movement Islamic State (IS), but also from the bombings of the US-led international coalition, she said.

In Mosul, IS uses civilians as human shields to confront an operation begun on October 17th by Iraqi troops and Kurdish guerrillas, with ground and air support from the coalition, she said.

Russia recently presented a resolution to the UN Security Council to denounce actions perpetrated by terrorists against a UN facility near Mosul, but the document was blocked by the United States, she said.

With such an action, it seems as if the United States and other Western powers, by downplaying facts like the aforementioned, seek to ensure protection for terrorists, said Zajarova.

Zajarova said that Western news media avoid mentioning the situation in Mosul as if there were no problems, something that in fact protects the terrorists.
