Beijing, Dec 27.- China has reaffirmed today its commitment to the peaceful use of outer space and its rejection of its use for military ends and the arms race.
In a press briefing, Wu Yanhua, deputy head of the National Space Administration, recalled that China began its space industry 60 years ago and has made advances since 2011.
This nation has taken big leaps in manned space flights, Moon exploration, BeiDou surfing system and in high resolution observation of the Earth, he added.
He mentioned that the Chinese Government declared April 24th as National Space Day to encourage interest on scientific innovation in this field.
According to its authorities, China is developing and using outer space in a judicious manner, by taking measures to protect the environment of space to keep it clean, free and peaceful while guaranteeing that its use is beneficial to all humanity.
Wu said that the goals of Beijing's space program is to explore outer space and broaden comprehension about the Earth and the Cosmos; to upgrade human civilization and social progress; to meet the demands of economic, technological and for scientific development.
The country also gears its space projects towards protecting national rights and interests.
In 2018, China will began offering satellite services to countries along the economic belt of the Silk Road in the Central Asia and the Silk Maritime Route of the 21st Century.
It will send the Chang'e-4 space probe which will make the first soft landing in the dark side of the Moon, while it is foreseeing launching the first Chinese Mars probe in 2020 and a world BeiDou network through 35 satellites that will provide navigation services around the planet.
