Havana, Jan 19.- Programmers, designers and video game developers will exhibit as of today their skills in a simultaneous Global Game Jam (GGJ), in which they should create their initiative, in a fun and different way, in just 48 hours.
Gorm Lai, president of GGJ, will be present in this edition of the contest. This kind of event started for the first time in 2009 with 1,600 participants from 23 countries.
The results of the previous year motivated Lai to come, Luis Guillermo Silva, of the organizing committee of the Computer Science University (UCI), told Prensa Latina.
Just before the world start tomorrow, Lai will offer the participants the lecture ‘Tips and tricks that every developer should know'.
Sponsored by the Vertex center at UCI, the Ministry of Higher Education and the UNDP and FAO offices in Cuba, the biggest video game competition of the world will run until Monday, January 23, day in which the results will be announced.
The workshop ‘Causes of video games', with several lectures, including Introduction to Unity 3 D; Blender, and Godot, will take place today, prior to the work in teams.
According to the program of the event, the central issue of this edition will be known tomorrow on the GGJ platform.
A group of 370 games was developed during the first edition in 2009. In 2016, more than 30,000 participants from 93 countries attended this competition and 6,866 games were developed.
