Authorities also warned of the saturation of almost 100 percent of the soil, which could lead to overflowing rivers, collapses and landslides on slopes of ravines and hills.
The rains were particularly strong in Petén, Huehuetenango, Quiché and the southwestern part of the country, the lower part of San Marcos, Retalhuleu, Suchitepéquez and Escuintla, Conred added.
It stressed that at least seven rivers levels rose and that the risk continues to increase further in Los Esclavos, Polochic, Chixoy, La Pasión, Usumacinta, Sis and Naranjo.
