Arelis Laguna González, health promoter in Guaimaro, is part of the team of specialists and nurses who work in educational centers and in the community to discuss issues related to teenage pregnancy and how to protect themselves from Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
The representatives of the Maternal and Child Program (PAMI), the other health promoters belonging to the Municipal Center of Hygiene, Epidemiology and Microbiology and those from the Educational sector are also added to the actions.
The premise of health educators and nurses is to explain in the exchanges with young people the risks of pregnancy at an early age for both the mother and the baby, hence the need to put into practice all possible measures with a view to prevent early gestation and unwanted pregnancies.
The health and education staff advise teens about the importance of maintaining stable relationships and in privacy never forget the practice of sex protected with the use of the contraceptive method considered the most effective because it reduces pregnancy, ITS and the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV-AIDS).
