In this regard highlights the delivery of the doctor and the family nurse, present in the offices, this program that in the current '2019' celebrates its anniversary 35 of creation contributes significantly to the health indicators that exhibits the easternmost territory of the province of Camagüey.

The Program of the Family Doctor and Nurse created on January 4, 1984 on the initiative of the unforgettable Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, also stands out in the increase of the life expectancy of Cubans at birth, which is 78.45, according to statistics from the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

Guaimaro has 31 Family nurses and doctor's offices that validate the effectiveness of the renovation proposal thought in the decade of the '70s: the model of medicine in the community, turned into reality and that at 35 years old of experience continues to be a brilliant idea in development, perfectible and susceptible to necessary and essential transformations when facing challenges and challenges inspired by the improvement of the state of health of the population throughout the Caribbean island.

Special attention is given to the fight against HIV-AIDS and cancer, problems counteracted by the constant prevention and control of these diseases, the emphasis on risk factors and the improvement in access to early diagnosis and adequate treatment.

In the list of programs, we cannot fail to mention the Maternal and Child Health (PAMI), which is mainly aimed at increasing births, enhancing the importance of breastfeeding for the baby's health and decreasing the mortality rate among children.
