The local trade union movement condemns the US blockade against Cuba, a cruel and genocidal policy imposed more than half a century ago that prevents the full elevation of production levels, services, and achieving the prosperous and sustainable development of the Cuban people.
According to the investigations, the damages accumulated by the blockade during almost six decades of application exceed 900 million dollars, taking into account the depreciation of the dollar against the value of gold in the international market.
According to local unionists, this policy constitutes a violation of human rights and the main obstacle to our development and, in their capacity as creators of wealth, they will continue to seek solutions to the difficulties until they convert each center and place labor in impregnable bastion, even in the most adverse circumstances.
Darlene Peña, a member of the Union of Young Communists (UJC), told the local press that with the arrival of President Donald Trump, the United States resumed the strategy of intensifying the blockade and increased subversion against Cuba, which shows the hostility of their policy.
