Guaimaro farmers focused on the development of the agricultural sector

Food production.Developing and producing more in the agricultural sector, orderly marketing the products that the population receives, working in the diversification and industrializing of the sector are priorities of agricultural workers in the easternmost region of Camagüey.

The Delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture in the territory has implemented agricultural policies from the past calendar, especially in the cooperative system, to increase the efficiency in the use of the land, by reducing idle areas.

The cooperative-peasant sector, through the execution of the National Soil Improvement and Conservation Program and the implementation of the Life Task (State Plan for confronting climate change) assumes a broad program that moves towards smart, climate-appropriate agriculture tropical, on sustainable agroecological bases.

Among the main challenges of the sector, the reactivation of the state units dedicated to the fattening and raising of pigs, the use of mechanical milking, the maintenance of the dairy and cooling points, the effective management of the herds, and the planting of protein plants, among other actions to achieve efficiency indicators.

The executives of the sector call to take advantage of the potential of the municipality to advance in the production of vegetables, in addition to applying science and technology in converted hydroponics and organoponics, since food production is defined as a strategic issue in the whole country.
