Local cultural hall in Guaimaro. It is February 10, 2020 and a town awakens ready to celebrate its 229 birthday, celebration endorsed by the love of Guáimaro, the main character of transcendental events in national history.

Many of those who comb gray hair sitting in their small armchair remember passages of the city, admire their constructions, enjoy the hustle and bustle of the people, make a stop and return to the time that marks the year '1903', the date of foundation of ' La Luz Instruction and Recreation Society '.

Its first headquarters were registered on the Martí road, former Prince Street. It was in this society where cinema was shown for the first time in the territory. In ‘1926’ the building was completed. Today in its walls, ceilings and halls survive the memorable performances of the emblematic figures of Cuban music, such as the unparalleled Enrique Jorrín and the orchestras La Ideal and Los Invasores. In that period there were evenings and dances there, there was a television set, considered one of the first that the town had.

Until ‘1961’ the site worked as ‘Society of Light’, from that date met in that space the Municipal Council of Culture whose first director was Pastor Reyna Rubriño. Years later, in '1982', the 'Luz Palomares García' House of Culture began to function definitively, an institution where children, young people and adults appropriated the manifestations of art, with everyone's permission to act and wait as a greater reward the applause of the spectator audience.

The same building refurbished in ‘1982’ to become a house of culture with dance workshops, plastic arts music classrooms, gallery and theater hall, is reaffirmed in time.

The Casa de Cultura ‘Luz Palomares García’, founded on December 30, 1982, treasures in this memoir this important event that was attended by the heroine of the Sierra Maestra, the unforgettable Cuban Vilma Espín Guillois.

This Monday, February 10, 2020, the emblematic completely renovated institution will receive members of the Camagüey Ballet at night, a company that under the direction of Regina Balaguer will offer the locals an exclusive, unique and memorable show in the onomastic 229 of the distinguished region in the Cuban nation as the stage where the signing of the First Constitution of the Republic of Cuba in Arms took place on April 10, 1869.
