The first photovoltaic park built in the province is located in Guaimaro, Camagüey and provides 1.6 megaWatt / hour to the National Electroenergetic System in Cuba, which represents a saving to the country of more than four thousand tons of oil.
Although the investment exceeded five million pesos, between national and convertible currency, according to specialists, the cost of production and maintenance of one kilowatt hour in such a plant saves 95 percent, compared to the energy generated in a power plant.
The park in this territory saves approximately 600 tons of oil to obtain electricity, a representative number that evidences the important contribution of the municipality's photovoltaic park to the national energetic network.
These plants pay one comma 15 percent of the total consumption of the country, recently pointed out to the local press the direction of generation with renewable sources of energy.
