Pablo de la Torriente Center Takes Six Titles at the Cuban Book Fair

Pablo de la Torriente Brau Cultural Center. Havana, Feb 10.- To celebrate its 20 years, the Pablo de la Torriente Brau Center will take six new titles to the 25th International Book Fair, Cuba 2016, in addition to trova music proposals, confirmed today that institution.

With those publications, La Memoria Editions-belonging to the center-try to rescue periods, figures or stages not treated in the grand narratives of national history and which, however, make up the identity of the island.

The Book Fair will be the main stage of the celebrations for the two decades of the institution, according to a press release.

The books: Carlos Aponte: un peleador sin tregua, by the researcher José A. Quintana; Pablo en Bohemia (Palabras de Pablo collection) and Pedro Capdevila, el remediano amigo de Pablo (Homenajes collection) will be presented at the Casa del ALBA in this capital, on February 15.

The next day, the director of the Pablo Center, the poet Víctor Casaus and singer from Andalucia Lucia Socam will be together at the Che Guevara Hall of Casa de las Americas meet in the recital Amar sin papeles, the same they took in October 2014 to 10 Spanish cities.

Thus, the book born of this creative adventure will be released in Havana.

The Nicolas Guillen hall, in La Cabaña will host on February 16 a special evening in which the results of the 2015 Memoria Award and Scholarship Creation Sindo Garay, both sponsored by the Pablo Center will be announced.

There will also be a talk about the title El útil anhelo. Correpondencia de Ruben Martinez Villena (Homenajes Collection), compiled by Carlos Reig, who tries to contribute to 'know, clarify, correct, understand and appreciate the private and public life of the Cuban intellectual', he said.

On February 18, at the Center for Marti Studies will take place the launching Viento Sur (Homenajes collection) and the reissue of the volume of the Palabra Viva collection, dedicated to Raul Roa (CD with an interview of Orlando Castellanos).

The next day, the House of Alba will provide shelter for another presentation, this time El Aullido Infinito (Coloquios y testimonios collection), by the winner of the 2012 Memoria Award, Yaysis Ojeda.

Each of these activities will conclude with a concert of singers and musicians defenders of traditional rhythms of this island.

Pablo de la Torriente Brau Center is an independent, nonprofit cultural institution, created under the auspices of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba in order to encourage the recovery of the collective memory of this nation.
