Monaco, Nov 26.- The International Athletics Federation (IAAF) Board of Directors decided today to extend the international suspension of Russia by estimating that it has not complied with the road map to fight doping.
A working group chaired by the Norwegian Rune Andersen estimated that 'there are still several key conditions' to allow the athletes of that nation to compete in international competitions.
In particular, it is required that the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) cancel the suspension of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, and that Moscow recognize the conclusions contained in the report of the McLaren commission.
Russian athletics is accused of institutionalized doping, and since November 2015 it has been suspended from all official competitions outside the country.
Russia track and field athletes were barred from competing at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro-2016, and only some of them were there under a neutral flag, in very specific cases.
In the London-2017 World Cup, 19 Russians were able to compete, fulfilling a series of requirements.
The next meeting of the IAAF Council will be held after the Indoor World Championships in 2018 that will take place in Birmingham, UK, from March 2 to 4.
