The happy day arrived, a day on which representatives of older generations recall the first steps of the Rebel Pioneers Union, the same that years later in 1962 was called Cuban Pioneers Union then, in 1967, it was announced as Organization of Young Pioneers José Martí (OPJM).
Today, the largest island of the Antilles is happy because its most inexperienced faces thank the power of dreaming, laughing, studying and think about the future. Moncadistas and José Martí Pioneers celebrate their 55th birthday inspired by the commitment to remember and also write their history, which is nourished by past and present times.
In the easternmost region of Camagüey, learners representing the youngest organization in the country in this time of celebration remind the martyr pioneer, yes, Paquito González Cueto, born on October 19th, 1919, the teenager who 20 days before turning 14 years old, joined the demonstration that accompanied the remains of Julio Antonio Mella after serving with the guard of honor alongside other pioneers. The protesters were attacked by the police, victim of those bullets, Paquito died.
Songs, poems, drawings, dramatizations, contests, camping, merge into a hug, woven together to describe in words, gestures and expressions lucky to live in a region committed to prepare men and women of tomorrow, embroiled in continuing the struggle and demonstrate that the most important of every nation is the human resource.
The festivity is multiplied in excitement, the reason why, the Young Communists League (UJC) is also celebrating the 54th anniversary of creation.
To say pioneers and youth in Cuba, is to perceive the eclectic mix of different ages, races, types of spirituality, but all are identified and contain the same message: To defend the authentic, which makes the Cubans unique and unrepeatable as individuals and as a society, culture, values, feelings and traditions.
