The Dawn breathes winds of patriotism, from the horizon the high mountains are illuminated by the sunlight, the waves become pregnant of history, and an event is highlighted: the 55th anniversary of the first great defeat of the US imperialism in Latin America.
La Victoria de Giron takes place in the fields and cities of the nation that in 1961 once again demonstrated its greatness, yes, the greatness of a people where the younger took the step forward and the most experienced joined the platoon of warriors who fearlessly, sank their boots into the sand to defend the independence achieved on January 1st, 1959.
Gunpowder, wind, noise, sea tide, bursts, explosions, ships, all draw that unforgettable April 19th when mercenaries at the service of the government of the United States attacked the island, the reaction of the Cuban rebels was immediate, only 66 hours from the attack, the enemies were squashed, in Cuba the joy of living in a free country was reborn once again swearing to never kneel and much less to be a slave.
Today when land germinates dreams instead of explosions, today when equity, respect for human rights and citizen sovereignty is guaranteed, the protagonists of that epic deed recall the details, the new generation listens to them and feels proud of being born on the greater of the Antilles, an island surrounded by palm trees, history, sea, solidarity and humanism.
In this day of rejoicing the call for full attention is prevalent in public places and historical scenarios, the fallen brothers receive the homage which ratifies the feeling of knowing them alive, present in the victorious contests, with the shield on the arm, convinced that the effort was not in vain, because in the Cuba they defended tooth and claw on that April 19th, 1961will never assume packages of economic adjustment or shock therapy at neoliberal style, Cuba by which they gave their lives today guarantees universal and free access to Public Health to all people.
It makes ourselves proud to be able to say to the heroes of Bay of Pigs, that the Cuban state supports the services provided by more than 150 hospitals, 400 polyclinics, 11 000 medical clinics and 140 maternity homes distributed throughout the country, even in the most remote places.
Bares pride to tell them that the life expectancy of the Cuban at birth is 78.45 years figure that places the Caribbean region among the most advanced in the world.
Bares pride to express that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) recognizes that the largest island of the Antilles exhibits, among the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, the highest rate in the Development of education, being also the one that most of its gross domestic product is devoted to education, accounting for a 13 percent.
These are just some examples that allow us to affirm with satisfaction and eternal thanks that the efforts of those who died in the Bay of Pigs was not in vain, thanks to them and many others who fought to the last breath, the land of Felix Varela, the man who bequeathed our national philosophy, of José Martí, the extraordinary teacher and the most universal of all Cubans and Fidel Castro Ruz, the visionary leader, is a symbol of sovereignty, humanism and internationalism for millions of people around the world.
