Managua, March 5 - The prominence of Nicaraguan women stood out today during the national meeting "Women, Science, and Technology," held at the Manuel Olivares Technological Center in this capital.
The event, organized by the National Technological Institute (Inatec), was held in celebration of International Women's Day and featured the participation of more than 100 students as part of the National Education Strategy "Blessings and Victories," reported the website El 19.
During the gathering, attendees discussed the strategic role of women in science, technology, and social transformation processes.
"Today, at this meeting, we share the challenges, experiences, and opportunities that women have had throughout their lives in science, technology, industry, engineering, and mathematics," said Esmeralda Aguilar, Deputy Director of Professional Training at Inatec.
She added that the leading role women play in these fields had not been recognized in previous years; however, she noted that thanks to the Sandinista Government led by co-presidents Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo, there is now a high level of female participation.
"Women have been that pillar, the fundamental role in the transformation of a society, and through our Government, this right to equality and opportunities is demonstrated; there is 50 percent female participation in all leadership spaces. Moreover, in the seats of the National Assembly, there is 75 percent female participation," she acknowledged.
For her part, Cela Argentina Moreno, Director of Technology at the Ministry of Education, valued this meeting as timely during a month dedicated to celebrating the historical struggle of women in the country's social transformation process. (Photo taken from the Internet)
