Havana, January 5th - After being transferred to the United States, the constitutionally elected Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro Moros, will be brought before a court in the Southern District of New York today at noon (17:00 GMT), according to The Washington Post.
The Venezuelan leader and his wife, who were kidnapped in the early hours of Saturday by U.S. military forces while attacking the Bolivarian nation, are currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
They are accused, the media outlet reported, of "narcoterrorism conspiracy, conspiracy to import cocaine, possession of machine guns and destructive devices, and conspiracy to possess machine guns and destructive devices against the United States," which is part of the narrative used by the Trump administration to demonstrate an alleged threat from the Venezuelan state to the northern nation.
Highlighting the interventionist nature of these maneuvers ordered from Washington, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said on X: "They will face the full force of American justice on American soil and in American courts."
