Havana, Nov 7 - The Advisory Council for the Development of Monumental and Environmental Sculpture (Codema) is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and to commemorate this milestone, the National Sculpture Hall was inaugurated today in the capital.
The Basilica of San Francisco de Asís, located in the heart of Old Havana, witnessed a wide collection of sculptural works from various artists who responded to a call involving over 50 participants.
Codema has led numerous sculptural events, in addition to exhibitions, colloquiums, competitions, and tenders, providing professional opportunities for the development of this artistic manifestation, as expressed by the organizers of the exhibition.

The work and responsibility of Codema as a guarantor of artistic quality for the placement of monumental and environmental works in public spaces have earned it the respect and recognition of artists and state institutions, they highlighted. Additionally, Codema will support exhibitions in various provinces of the country in the coming months, where art is sometimes inaccessible, they announced.
During the inauguration of this National Sculpture Hall, reference was made to the efforts made by the mentioned council regarding many of the squares and monuments that exist in the country.

Their work has also been reflected in the artistic environments of different hotel institutions, university centers, and health facilities, all of which constitute valuable collections of Contemporary Cuban Art.
According to the organizers, the celebration of these 40 years alongside the opening of the hall signifies a renewed commitment to the continuity of Codema's work.
The Museum of Fine Arts will also host a colloquium on November 19, 20, and 21 as part of an extensive program of activities for this anniversary, featuring important panelists who will deliver keynote lectures on contemporary Cuban sculpture.

The exhibition inaugurated today aims to offer a participatory space for all interested artists.
