Havana, Nov. 21 – Like an X-ray of his extraordinary work, Medula, the exhibition of the renowned Cuban visual artist Roberto Fabelo (Guáimaro, 1950), opens today at the Cuban Art Building of the National Museum of Fine Arts (MNBA) in this capital city.
The exhibition invites viewers to delve into the symbolic and profound universe of the 2004 National Prize for Visual Arts winner, where the human and the fantastic coexist in a constant exploration of identity, collective memory, and the Cuban imagination, according to a statement from the MNBA.

In Medula, the artist brings together paintings, drawings, and installations that reflect his concern with representing the complexities of the human condition and the relationship between the individual and their environment, the text indicates, adding that the exhibition holds the most significant works from his output in the past decade.

From November 21 until March 2026, MNBA visitors will be able to enjoy an exclusive selection of Fabelo’s works in the central courtyard gallery and the temporary exhibition room on the third floor of the Cuban Art Building.

Considered one of the most recognized contemporary artists in the visual arts of Cuba, the painter, sculptor, draftsman, and illustrator also enjoys great international prestige. His pieces are collected and exhibited in important galleries around the world.
