Camagüey, May 12.- The Marie Curie Provincial Oncology Hospital was the setting for the main event in Camagüey celebrating International Nurses Day, where healthcare professionals gathered to pay tribute to the dedication and vocation of those who transform care into science and humanity.
During the ceremony, Rafael Pérez Robles, president of the provincial chapter of the Cuban Nursing Society, emphasized the passion and commitment that characterize the work of nurses in the province, highlighting their constant effort to improve the quality of patient care.

In an emotional recognition ceremony, distinctions were awarded to a total of 14 professionals. They received the Manuel “Piti” Fajardo Distinction for more than 20 years of dedication to nursing, as well as the Juan Tomás Roy Distinction, which rewards commitment to research and science.
Additionally, the provincial chapter of the Cuban Nursing Society was recognized for its contribution to the development of this specialty in Camagüey. Furthermore, the health union awarded the "Men of Science" Seal (Sello Hombres de Ciencias) as a symbol of the tangible impact that the vocation of these professionals has on the community.

The Master in Medical Emergencies and Oncology Nursing, Tania Betancourt Rodríguez, speaking on behalf of the honorees, emphasized the pride they feel in serving their country through nursing. She highlighted that each recognition represents a renewed commitment to the life and health of the population.
For his part, Dr. Carlos Rafael Morán, the provincial director of Health, highlighted the ability of these professionals to provide critical care under adverse conditions, demonstrating their maturity and professional excellence.

The event concluded with a reflection that resonates in everyone's hearts: “Nursing: science, dedication, and humanity at the service of life. A tribute that becomes a promise for the future of Camagüey and for Cuba.”
