Havana, November 28 – President Miguel Díaz-Canel paid tribute to the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, in the province of Santiago de Cuba, according to an official report released today in local media.
Díaz-Canel honored Fidel at the Santa Ifigenia Heritage Cemetery, where the remains of heroes, martyrs, and notable figures from the island’s history rest, according to a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.
During his visit to the necropolis the day before, the Head of State also paid homage to Mariana Grajales, mother of valiant independence fighters and considered in Cuba as the Mother of the Homeland, according to the text also published on social media.
Likewise, he did the same at the remains of Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, initiator of the independence struggles on the island and recognized here as the Father of the Homeland, and at the mausoleum of José Martí, National Hero of Cuba.
