Buenos Aires, Nov 28 - In "Spirituality in Times of Uncertainty," his latest work, the renowned Argentine intellectual Adolfo Pérez Esquivel shares experiences that help confront the hardships humanity and individuals face today.

"In my travels over fifty years, I have been able to approach the intellectual and cultural understanding of religions in various parts of the world," said the Nobel Peace Prize laureate and distinguished human rights figure, presenting his book last night, published by Ciccus editorial.

Spirituality is not a religion, but it can be transcendent and offer meaning to religiosity. Indigenous peoples, with their worldview, live their spirituality and union with Mother Earth," Pérez Esquivel reflected.

"We live in an era marked by uncertainty. Where is humanity headed? Technological and scientific advances impose the acceleration of time, condition social, political, and economic behaviors, and generate dependence," he warned.

Human beings, he added, end up being swallowed and dominated by technology, which develops and imposes consumerism and the advance of artificial intelligence.

Paraphrasing a rural saying, he called to empty the jug filled with ideologies, information, values and anti-values, violence, wars, hunger, and the filth that humanity suffers so that light may enter. He stated that today there is a silent war killing generations: hunger.

He insisted that these times are uncertain and painful, but also times of hope and resistance to allow light into our lives.

After expressing that lies are the mother of all violence, he described that this book expresses the uncertainty humanity lives today; here in Argentina, we experience moments of desolation and people who suffer; therefore, one must be rebellious not to perish.

Before concluding, Pérez Esquivel urged not to stop smiling at life because the day you stop smiling is the day they defeat you. "Another world is possible; let us unite to make it possible," exhorted the distinguished human rights defender.
