Havana, December 13th – One of the most outstanding figures in world dance, Argentine Marianela Núñez, will perform alongside the National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) here in a season of the classic Don Quixote, the company confirmed today.

The star of the Royal Ballet of London will share the stage at the National Theater on December 28 and 30 with the Cuban-born dancer Patricio Revé, current guest artist of the mentioned British company and principal dancer of the Queensland Ballet (Australia).

According to specialized critics, Núñez stands out for her extraordinary technical level and a magnetism that fascinates audiences in the most renowned theaters around the world.

In her home country, the media have even called her the “Messi of ballet,” while in the United Kingdom she is regarded as one of the most complete dancers of her generation.

There, she received the prestigious Olivier Award in 2013 for outstanding achievements, has been named “Best Dancer” four times at the National Dance Awards (2005, 2012, 2018, and 2022), and in 2024, King Charles III appointed her Officer of the Order of the British Empire.

The artist also holds the coveted Benois de la Danse, awarded in Russia and considered the equivalent of an Oscar in this field, the Platinum Konex Award (2009) as “Best Dancer of the Decade,” and the María Ruanova Award.

With 27 years at the Royal Ballet of London, Núñez has marked several milestones; for example, she has shared the stage multiple times with Cuban star Carlos Acosta, who chose her to star alongside him in the world premiere of his own version of Don Quixote, created for the prestigious British company.

Meanwhile, Revé is considered one of the great talents to emerge from the National Ballet of Cuba and has secured a prominent place on the international dance scene thanks to his refinement and impeccable technical cleanliness.

According to a statement from the BNC, this Don Quixote season will pay tribute to Cuban prima ballerina assoluta Alicia Alonso on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of her birth and will consist of nine performances.

In addition to the two already mentioned, shows will take place on December 19, 20, 21, 26, 27, and 29; while the closing performance on January 1, 2026, will be part of the celebrations in this country of the 67th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution and the beginning of the new year.

Several BNC artists will have the opportunity to debut in principal roles of Don Quixote, and, as usual, the public will enjoy the artistry of the company’s already established principal dancers, declared a Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

Among the leads stand out the names Anette Delgado, Dani Hernández, Yanquiel Vázquez, Ányelo Montero, Gabriela Druyet, Nadila Estrada, Laura Kamila, and Alejandro Alderete, among others.
