Madrid, December 29th - Famous for housing emblematic works such as Las Meninas, The Nude Maja, or The Garden of Earthly Delights, the Prado Museum in Madrid once again broke its visitor record in a single year.
According to the institution’s announcement today, as of Sunday, December 28th, the Prado recorded a total of 3,479,838 visits, including a significant number of foreigners, encouraged by international tourism.
The prestigious museum, which competes in popularity with the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen Bornemisza in the Spanish capital, features monumental works such as Diego Velázquez’s Las Meninas; The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymus Bosch; The Nude Maja by Francisco de Goya; David Victorious over Goliath by Caravaggio; and The Three Graces by Rubens, among others.
In 2025, the museum hosted temporary exhibitions of Paolo Veronese, Antonio Raphael Mengs, Juan Muñoz, and important pieces like The Martyrdom of Saint Andrew by Rubens.
May was the month with the highest number of visits, totaling 339,062, and overall, 45.35 percent of the visitors who entered the museum for free were foreigners.
The Prado is located in the heart of Madrid, beside the promenade of the same name and the Neptune Fountain.
