Guatemala City, December 6 – The Government of Guatemala today expressed its deepest condolences to the people and Government of Sri Lanka for the tragic passage of the high-intensity cyclone named Ditwah.
In a statement, the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized its strongest support, especially to the families of the hundreds of victims, amid a situation that shook that economy.
“Our prayers for the eternal rest of the souls of those who passed away and sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured and affected,” the Foreign Ministry stressed.
A recent report revealed that at least 607 people lost their lives due to this natural disaster, with over 200 injured. It also mentioned up to two million people affected by floods and landslides.
