Montevideo, December 14 - Approximately 30 hectares of eucalyptus were affected by a fire in the Uruguayan department of Canelones, where the Fire Department is currently maintaining monitoring in the area.
The fire was controlled the previous day with the participation of several detachments and support from forestry brigades and helicopters from the Ministry of the Interior equipped with helibuckets.
"The situation is under control, with preventive monitoring ongoing in the area to prevent flare-ups, and liquidation work continues," commented the Fire Department.
There were no injuries or homes affected.
The causes of the fire are unknown, although its spread may have been linked to the prevailing high temperatures.
