Johen Lefont will seek a new record for ball control in the water.

Matanzas, Jan 3 - The year just beginning could witness another record by Johen Lefont, a Cuban specialist in ball control in the water, who has already announced his intention to venture into the novel discipline of the highest number of head touches within a 30-second period.

In recent statements to the press, the so-called "Cuban dolphin" explained that the event, recently approved by Guinness World Records, will initially require 85 valid touches, a mark he considers quite achievable according to his actual capabilities.

However, the athlete from the western province of Matanzas elaborated that over time, this exercise could grow exponentially in competitiveness, essentially due to its short duration and the high number of practitioners who will surely aim to set a new record.

Head touches in 30 seconds already existed within ball control on land; however, it was only a few months ago that it was approved for water, and I think it will be a spectacular discipline, as usually occurs with speed trials, Lefont assured the Cuban News Agency.

The former water polo athlete also announced that during 2026 he will attempt to break his own world record for the highest number of ball touches with the head, currently set at two thousand thirty-one, for which he will need to undergo rigorous physical training aimed at enhancing endurance.

After an assessment of the main results in the year just ended, he described 2025 as successful, having established five world records in the balance discipline, including 32.03 minutes with the ball on the head without falling into the water, still in the process of certification by Guinness World Records.
