Joy continues based on strength

Joy continues based on strength

From Cairo, and in the cold of the Norwegian city of Førde, Cuba, through the anatomy of its athletes, has brought several joys through strength and will. In recent days, our country has earned a top spot in weightlifting.

If Marifélix Sarría's world silver medal, obtained just over a week ago, was of great merit, Cuba's two medals in the World Paraweight Championship are equally commendable.

In addition to Leidy Rodríguez's third-place finish on the closing day, the men's team earned a silver medal in the team event. Jesús Cuevas, Pablo Ramírez, and Enmanuel González achieved the feat by scoring a total of 413 points, a national record.

The girls, while not on the podium, also set a new national record. Leydi Rodríguez, Amalia González, and Daynelis Vázquez achieved 247 points.

No medal has any tangible value, and all the money in the world cannot measure the joy of these athletes, who, above all, are champions of life. Their achievements are the victory of those who, despite the adversity of physical difficulties, did not give up on their dream of becoming athletes. For this reason, they are now monarchs.

The Cuban para-sports movement continues to bring joy to every competition. Soon, in Chile, our youth will write their own history, inspired by the virtue of those who never give up.

The Cairo event, attended by more than 500 strongmen, was attended by all the Paralympic champions from Paris, further enhancing our achievement. The curtains were closed this Saturday, until Manama hosts the event again in 2026.
