Search for those responsible for the attack underway in Pakistan

Islamabad, Nov 12 - Security teams are continuing investigations into the suicide bombing in the capital yesterday, which resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including lawyers and police officers, while another 36 were injured.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated to the press that identifying the attacker is an absolute priority and assured consequences for those responsible.

"I assure you that we will identify him in the coming hours. We will provide all the evidence and details. Whoever is involved, whether local or foreign, there will be no impunity," he promised.

Regarding the attack that took place near the main entrance of the Islamabad district courts, police reported that the suicide bomber attempted to enter the judicial complex but, failing to do so, detonated explosives near a police vehicle.

Security camera footage showed that just moments before the explosion, a large number of lawyers and citizens were gathered at the location.

Following the attack, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Ali Zardari condemned the recent acts of terrorism and reaffirmed that operations against terrorists and their facilitators will continue until this evil is completely eradicated from the country.

They addressed the political situation and general security of Pakistan with Senate President Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani; National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq; and federal ministers Mohsin Naqvi, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Khalid Hussain Magsi, and Abdul Aleem Khan.
