Cuba honors its fallen fighters in defense of Venezuela

Havana, January 15 - Cuba today pays a heartfelt tribute to the 32 Cubans who fell on January 3 during the U.S. military aggression against Venezuela, following the arrival in the homeland of their mortal remains.

Placed on both sides of the capital's Rancho Boyeros avenue, where the martyrs were transported in harmony, several generations of Cubans honored posthumously those who died fulfilling their duty, in a dignified and heroic manner.

Then, at 10:00 a.m. local time this Thursday, the public will be able to pay tribute to them at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (Minfar), and tomorrow at the Anti-Imperialist Platform, from where they raised their voices on January 3rd against an attack classified as state terrorism.

In that context, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel described the aggression as "a criminal assault against our America, a Zone of Peace; a violation of the sovereignty of a nation that is a symbol of independence, dignity, and solidarity, and an unacceptable attack on International Law."

Also from the Anti-Imperialist Tribune, the prominent intellectual and president of Casa de las Américas, Abel Prieto, urged to "knock on every door so that the truth about this sinister plan to seize Venezuela's wealth circulates."

"We must stop the forces of hatred, war, fascism, and defend the right to peace, to life, to solidarity, to sovereignty, to justice," he asserted.

In the intellectual’s opinion, "there cannot be a dignified person in this world who does not denounce this infamy by all means at their disposal."

The international community has also repeatedly condemned the attack, which endangers humanity and threatens the sovereignty of the sister Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
