Cuban residents in Panama condemn provocation in front of their embassy

Panama City, Dec. 11 - The Martian Association of Cuban Residents in Panama (Amcrp) condemned today the acts of provocation orchestrated by small groups in front of the embassy of the Caribbean nation in this capital.

In a statement, the organization pointed out that what took place the day before during the celebration inside the diplomatic premises of an event for peace on International Human Rights Day was the work of small groups of people paid solely to subvert order and disturb public tranquility.

Regarding this, they indicated that these demonstrations represent a serious violation of international law norms governing relations between states and the protection of diplomatic missions.

“It is essential to make absolutely clear that none of these people represent or have any link with the historic, respectable, and peaceful community of Cubans residing in Panama, whose conduct and contribution to Panamanian society have always been exemplary,” the document states.

It also points out that “these actions, promoted from the United States, seek only to sow hatred, division, and misinformation among Cubans, serving the same interests that for more than six decades have maintained a brutal and criminal economic, commercial, and financial blockade against our people, with the declared objective of suffocating them and generating suffering.”

The Amcrp reiterated its confidence in Panamanian authorities to guarantee the security of these diplomatic facilities, in accordance with their international obligations, and to preserve the climate of peace and coexistence on its territory.

Furthermore, it urged the national and international community to reject these manipulations and to continue supporting the Cuban people's struggle for their sovereignty, their right to peace, and to determine their destiny free from external interference and destabilization campaigns.

The day before, an event for world peace and the right to life, organized by the Cuban embassy in Panama, became an emotional setting in defense of the triumphant Revolution of 1959.

At the gathering, the Cuban ambassador to the isthmus, Víctor Cairo, denounced that the diplomatic headquarters was threatened by counterrevolutionary groups, who gathered in the central Belisario Porras Park in this capital, financed by mercenaries and U.S. politicians interested only in destabilizing order in their country and creating obstacles to their people's development through the blockade.

The adversaries of the Revolution, he indicated, who have absolutely no interest in what happens in Cuba, are driven only by money, but as has been demonstrated today, they are defeated by the moral strength of those who never retreat or surrender in the path of being free and sovereign.
