The Book Fair will open its pages to historical memory

The Verde Olivo Publishing House provided details this Thursday in a press conference about its participation in the XXXIV Havana International Book Fair, an event dedicated to the Centenary of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, with intellectuals Marilyn Bobes and José Bell Lara being honored as guests of honor.

Representatives from various centers and publishing houses shared their projects and news. In his speech, the director of the Verde Olivo Publishing House, Colonel Roque Ernesto Garrigó Andreu, emphasized that the institution's presentations will be dedicated to the 10th Anniversary of the Cultural Project Nuestra Historia and the 190th Anniversary of the birth of General Máximo Gómez.

Among the most relevant proposals is the publication of Volumes I and II of Military History in Cuba, a collective work developed by specialists from the Center for Military Studies of the Revolutionary Armed Forces. The colonel highlighted that the photo-reportage Fidel is a Country, by authors Jorge Valiente and Sahily Tabares, will also be made available to the public. "It has been presented on several occasions, but we have reserved copies for this special event," he affirmed.

The Office of Historical Affairs of the Presidency of the Republic, also present at the conference, highlighted the importance of the works they will exhibit at the fair. Among them stands out The History Will Absolve Me, the foundational text of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz.

"The honor of our institution has been to publish several of his writings, and this is one to which one must always return, because it contains the programmatic reasons of the Revolution," declared Jorge Luis Aneiros Alonso, director of the center.

The XXXIV Havana International Book Fair will open its doors to the public from the 3rd to the 13th of next month and invites readers, researchers, and families to participate in one of the country’s largest cultural gatherings.
