In India, they applaud Cuba's dignity in the face of US threats

New Delhi, Jan 29.- The Secretary General of the All India Forward Bloc, G. Devarajan, stated that Cuba’s dignity in confronting the blatant imperialism of the United States against progressive peoples must be applauded.

In a statement to Prensa Latina, the Indian leader reaffirmed South Asia’s support for the Cuban people in their struggle against imperialist machinations and denounced the economic, commercial, and financial blockade that the island has suffered from Washington for six decades.

“The blockade imposed during the last six and a half decades is not against the country, it is against humanity, and the way Cuba fights against that imperialism to build a nation must be applauded,” he emphasized.

G. Devarajan pointed out that currently, U.S. imperialism manifests itself through tariffs, additional tariffs, and even threats to other countries with secondary sanctions.

He considered the U.S. imperialist tariff war to attack countries trading with nations like Cuba and Venezuela a great cruelty, also at the center of Washington’s current colonial policy.

Therefore, he specified, it is the responsibility of those who love peace, democracy, and social justice to oppose this kind of state cruelty and added that the people of India have always supported those who fight for their freedom and homeland.

“We are moved by Cuba’s motto: Homeland or Death! This demonstrates the revolutionary spirit of the people. For that reason, we support the people of Cuba,” he stated.

The All India Forward Bloc emerged as a faction within the Indian National Congress in 1939, led by Subhas Chandra Bose, and was re-established as an independent political party after India’s independence.

With its main stronghold in West Bengal, this party advocates socialism, nationalism, and equitable economic development, and has historically played an important role in defending land reforms and workers’ rights.
