Guáimaro, July 31.— The energy transition strategy by the Cuban Telecommunications Company (ETECSA) is creating expectations among the population of the easternmost municipality of Camagüey, following disruptions to telephone, Internet, radio, and television services in the territory caused by fuel shortages.
With the arrival of a portion of the resources to Guáimaro for the prompt installation of solar panels at ETECSA, engineer Henry Hecharría Rojas, head of the Guáimaro Telephone Center, provided details regarding the process. This initiative will guarantee the company's backup with clean energy in the coming days, leading to an improvement in services within the district.
Hechavarría Rojas explained that the installation of photovoltaic panels in the province of Camagüey is being carried out according to a schedule, with a level of logistical assurance.
Modules destined for other territories have been 10 or 12 kWh, equipment that requires fewer material resources and management compared to those for the "Cradle of the Constitution" (Guáimaro): three 15 kWh batteries and an equal number of 10 kWh inverters.
Some materials necessary for the assembly, such as cement, are already available thanks to the local government's management; others are arriving, including aggregates that will allow for the casting of concrete bases for the metal structures that will support more than 50 high-power photovoltaic cells.
Work on the placement of the panels will begin this week. Once the work is completed, relevant measurements will be taken to determine how many hours the accumulated solar energy will allow for the maintenance of telecommunications services.
The executive noted that technological loading for mobile telephony and the Internet will subsequently be secured, followed by fixed telephony and transmission and access systems.
The batteries will guarantee a portion of the services during specific hours of the night, as will be determined at a later date.
