Once again, the enemies are intent on discrediting the Cuban Revolution. Especially in recent years, they have done so with vile and unscrupulous tactics, focusing on the figures of its leaders and the altruistic processes that define its essence of solidarity. They resort to lies and even insults without caring who or what they harm.
It is difficult to blindly believe in social media, that space of ambiguity and unhealthy complicities where the biggest hoaxes regarding leftist thought circulate. Currently, a message is circulating about supposed corruption in the Ministry of Culture. It is a diabolical and crude maneuver to orchestrate a campaign of discredit and defamation, not only against this State Central Administration body but also against its officials and, by extension, against our national project.
What is recorded in that space is laughable in its colossal attack on our culture. Each note drips with visceral hatred: they try to present themselves as whistleblowers to generate discredit for the ministry and foster division; in this endeavor, they use the most popular hashtags and social media platforms.
It is sad and abominable this attitude of the haters because they know what culture means to a country, and that is why they attack it. The Cuban intellectuals, who are familiar with such mechanisms of defamation, recognize at this singular moment that we are a sovereign nation supported by solid and clean institutions, where the development of such a turbulent and macabre plot – seemingly impune – as that described in the text we now object to is impossible.
The Cuban people can never be divided by messages of hate; therefore, we find it appropriate to state our position against this media campaign with which the enemies attempt to destroy us on a symbolic level.
It is a privilege for all of us living in this nation to have a Ministry of Culture like ours, which spares no effort in promoting and consolidating knowledge and sensitivity as part of the greatest and most solid social achievements in its history.
