Havana, February 16 (Prensa Latina) — Nave Oficio de Isla, under the general direction of Osvaldo Doimeadios, is currently preparing the final performances of the play Los adversarios in Cuba, based on a text by Mexican playwright Antonio Toledo.
The premiere of the piece, directed by Pepe García, took place on February 7 at the Abdala Cultural Center, part of the Martí Theater, with the closing performances scheduled for February 21 and 22 at 6:00 p.m. local time.
Due to high public demand, the institution’s management decided to increase the seating capacity of the venue to accommodate more people in the building located on Zulueta Street, between Teniente Rey and Dragones, in this capital city.
Performances by Andrea Doimeadios and Ernesto Pazos impressed the audience on February 7, 8, 14, and 15, given the relevance of a text adaptable to different realities and the ability to blur the lines between reality and fiction in the marvelous game of “theater within theater.”
According to actor and theater scholar Alejandro García, this creation leads to an introspective and sensory journey through the complexity of human relationships, showing how these follow identical patterns regardless of the era or social status.
“The play not only highlights the dynamics between the main characters but also offers them a glimpse into how time and experiences shape people’s perceptions and expectations,” said the actor and assistant director in the notes to the Los adversarios program.
Lost love, latent desire, and the wounds that time does not completely heal—these and more emerge in this staging, which can be seen for free as long as the venue’s capacity allows.
According to the production team speaking to Prensa Latina, every effort is being made to accommodate attendees until the physical space imposes its limit.
García notes that introspection becomes a transformative experience, where each person can see themselves reflected in the protagonists’ story, discovering through art the complexities of their own existence.
Amid a complex and delicate situation in the country, Nave Oficio de Isla reaffirms its commitment to culture and the public and announces that it will hold performances of the play Miguel Will on February 21 and 22 at 4:00 p.m. local time at the Former Storage Warehouses San José on Avenida del Puerto.
For this performance, tickets can be obtained at the box office one hour before the start of the show, which combines the universes of two geniuses: the Spanish Miguel de Cervantes and the English William Shakespeare.
The magic of theater continues two hours later at the Abdala Cultural Center, part of the Martí Theater, where two young and talented actors reveal tensions and vulnerabilities in Los adversarios.
