That safeguard must be comprehensive: attending to their physical and emotional health, supporting them in social life, and preventing loneliness from becoming a burden. A visit, call, or conversation are simple gestures that make them feel valued.

Respecting old age means treating them with patience and consideration, recognizing their rights, and defending them against abuse or discrimination. It also involves celebrating their achievements and the effort of a whole life dedicated to family and community.

Protecting the elderly is everyone’s responsibility: from public policies that guarantee pensions and dignified healthcare to everyday acts of solidarity in the neighborhood. In the way we treat them, we define the society we are and the one we want to be tomorrow.

Caring for and respecting older adults is honoring the past, dignifying the present, and sowing a more humane future.
