Camagüey to celebrate Mining Geologist Worker Day

Dedicated to the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the Day of the Mining Geologist will be celebrated at the Camagüey Geominera Territorial Company from October 10 to 24.

Yureldy Arias del Valle, secretary of the union for the aforementioned entity, explained exclusively to the Cuban News Agency that the program of activities aims to include all workers, recognize the best, and connect the experience of veterans with the desire to learn of recent graduates who join.

The meeting and tour with the Mineritos del Futuro interest group and the holding of a children's competition, as well as visits to several pre-university schools to encourage students to choose careers related to the sector, represent key tasks to support vocational training and career guidance, Arias noted.

These activities will be complemented by an exchange of creative women, a visit by young people to a production-based business unit, a meeting with founders and retirees, and the delivery of donations to a nursing home in this city.

These days, geologists and miners with distinguished careers will have space in the media to discuss the decades of work dedicated to a profession that requires great sacrifice, and sometimes from anonymity.

The event to celebrate the anniversary will take place on October 24th, where workers will reaffirm their commitment to collaborating with the country's economic development through geological studies and mineral exploitation.

Achieving increased exports and positioning itself in the international market, increasing the variety of alternative productions, and continuing collaborative projects at various universities in the country remain the goals of a group characterized by its dedication and commitment.
