Havana, December 10 – Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero commemorated Human Rights Day today on the social network X.
"Cuba reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the defense, protection, and full exercise of all rights for all people, in accordance with the principles of progressiveness, equality, and non-discrimination," he wrote.
The island’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, also referenced the date on the same social network, reaffirming Cuba’s commitment to the full dignity of the human being and to its promotion, protection, and respect.
He also stated that for this purpose, Cuba will continue complying with the provisions of the 44 legal instruments aimed at this goal, of which the State is a party.
"The Cuban Revolution will continue prioritizing social justice, with universal and free rights to education, health, culture, and sports as fundamental rights," he added.
Human Rights Day is celebrated worldwide every December 10 to commemorate one of the most revolutionary global commitments: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This historic document enshrines the inalienable rights that every person has as a human being, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, economic position, birth, or any other status.
The Declaration was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in Paris on December 10, 1948, and establishes, for the first time, the fundamental human rights that must be protected worldwide.
