The National Ballet of Cuba will support those affected by Hurricane Melissa.

Havana, Dec. - The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will donate the proceeds from its performances of Don Quixote on December 19 and 20 to the victims of Hurricane Melissa, announced director Viengsay Valdés this Wednesday.

The company, a National Cultural Heritage, urges all those who wish to collaborate with this noble cause to attend the opening shows of the classic Don Quixote season in the Avellaneda Hall of the National Theater.

According to the director, this is a very special series because it features the debut of young talents eager to stand out, including Laura Kamila, Nadila Estrada, and Alejandro Alderete.

Kamila will be the lead in the December 20 performance, alongside principal dancer Yankiel Vázquez; while two established principal artists, Anette Delgado and Dani Hernández, will open the season the day before.

The series includes a total of nine performances, with additional shows on December 21, 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30, as well as January 1, 2026, all under Valdés's general direction.

The season pays tribute to the legendary Alicia Alonso on the 105th anniversary of the birth of the Cuban prima ballerina assoluta.

Don Quixote is such an attractive and complex classic that there is no major competition where it is not danced, at least in part: whether a variation or the pas de deux from the work, due to its high demands for virtuosity. (Information from Prensa Latina)
