With the gala "Cuba Vive," the upcoming Plaza Jazz Festival will kick off.

Havana, December 28th - The 41st International Jazz Plaza Festival will kick off on January 25th with Cuba Vive, a luxury concert that will bring together great artists of Cuban music in this capital city.

Since mid-December, the outstanding Cuban pianist Ignacio “Nachito” Herrera has been rehearsing alongside the National Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Igor Corcuera, according to the event's page on the social network Facebook.

Also set to take the stage are renowned musicians Niurka Reyes, Germán Velazco, Bryan Suárez Leyva, as well as the Jazz Band of the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory directed by Jorge Sergio Ramírez, the National Choir of Cuba, and the National Children’s Choir, under the direction of Digna Guerra.

From January 25th until February 2nd, the International Jazz Plaza Festival will take place in the cities of Havana, Santiago de Cuba, Santa Clara, and for the first time, in Holguín.

The image of Cuban identity, with its color and strength, the artwork El Guateque by maestro Alfredo Sosabravo, National Prize for Visual Arts 1997, will be the visual image of the Festival, which also celebrates the artist’s 95th birthday.

The musical theme accompanying the event will be “La Rumba me llama” ("The Rumba Calls Me"), by musician and composer Roberto Fonseca, who is the Festival’s artistic director.

According to the Jazz Plaza organizers, artists from France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, the United States, Italy, Lithuania, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Taiwan, Austria, Canada, Greece, and China have confirmed their presence at the event.
