Tribute to the Poet Who Lives in Simple Verses

Guáimaro, December 14th — In the easternmost region of Camagüey, a group of young people paid tribute to José Martí by reading his Simple Verses, remembering that December 13th, 1890, when the Apostle of Cuban Independence first presented them.

The little Saturday morning moment turned into an exercise of memory and sensitivity: each poem opened a path toward a deeper understanding of the man who wrote for children and women, the same creator who exalted nature and magnified the colors of the homeland with his prose.

The participants unanimously emphasized that Martí's work, far from being a distant legacy, enlightens the national conscience and offers keys to humanity and justice. In every stanza, the relevance of a thought that invites tenderness, respect, and the defense of dignity persists.

The gathering reaffirmed that José Martí, the most universal of Cubans, is both a legacy and a living presence in the education of new generations, who transform the strength of his poetry into an everlasting commitment to Cuba in their daily lives. (Photo taken from Habana Radio)
