Santiago, Chile, Dec. 1 – Starting today, Chile will include the treatment of three new diseases in the Explicit Health Guarantees Plan (GES), increasing the total number of conditions covered by this program to 90.
Also known as AUGE, the plan guarantees people diagnosed with various health issues access to non-discriminatory, timely, quality care with financial protection.
In a ceremony at the Plaza de la Constitución, Chile’s President Gabriel Boric will lead the event where the GES will formally incorporate hospitalization treatment for severe depression in children under 15, post-discharge care for liver cirrhosis, and tobacco cessation services for those over 25 years old.

Created in 2005, the plan currently covers chronic diseases, the health of adults over 65, serious accidents, heart and cerebrovascular diseases, cancer, and surgical interventions.
It also includes childbirth and newborn diseases, as well as mental and oral health.
