The Amalia Simoni Clinical Surgical Teaching Provincial Hospital in Camagüey kicked off a program of activities on November 1st to celebrate its 66th anniversary, which will extend until the 27th. Founded in 1957, the institution reaffirms its historical role in public health in the region with this celebration.
Inaugurated by Commander Fidel Castro Ruz, the center has remained a fundamental pillar of provincial medical care, adapting and expanding its services over more than six decades.
With a workforce of over 800 employees, the hospital offers care in numerous specialties, including Pulmonology, Hematology, Geriatrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as essential services in Surgery, Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Orthopedics, and Dermatology.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, conferences, meetings with Medical Sciences students, recognitions for veteran and outstanding workers, screenings of life stories, and community actions in vulnerable neighborhoods have been organized.
At the same time, the hospital continues to develop continuous improvement programs to optimize patient care and modernize its facilities, in a context marked by economic limitations and the United States' blockade against Cuba.
For the staff at "Amalia Simoni," this anniversary not only represents a celebration but also a renewed commitment to the health of the Camagüey community and the mission of providing accessible and quality care.
