Florida calls for improving social control mechanisms in neighborhoods and communities

Florida, January 20th - Perfecting control over the impact of social programs promoted by the Revolution for the benefit of individuals and families in vulnerable situations, in every neighborhood and community of the municipality of Florida, was another of the tasks assigned to Vice Prime Minister Jorge Luis Tapia Fonseca before concluding his recent working visit to this Camagüey area.

The high-ranking national government official showed particular interest in the food assistance and other support provided to more than 170 pregnant women in the territory, especially those with nutritional risks and economic limitations, emphasizing that this task is a priority for the institutions of the State, the Government, and the Public Health system in each locality.

Tapia Fonseca also inquired about the actual participation of Social Control and community leaders in the implementation, verification, and monitoring of the care demanded or received today by the most vulnerable groups in each neighborhood of the municipality of Florida, including elderly people living alone, children, adolescents and young people disconnected from study and work, as well as other citizens affiliated with public dining rooms and nursing homes.

The Vice Prime Minister of the Cuban Government insisted on the importance of “hands-on oversight by the State and Government of each of these cases, understanding their real needs in food, housing, institutional and family support, beyond the report or performance of social workers and others in the different electoral districts, to have an increasingly accurate view of the effectiveness of the Revolution’s policies in the field of social care.”
