Cuban Intellectual Highlights the Humanistic Dimension of Fidel Castro

Havana, November 7.- Cuban intellectual Abel Prieto today emphasized the ethical and spiritual dimension of Fidel Castro's legacy, which he described as an "indispensable paradigm for humanity in times of the rise of new forms of fascism."

Speaking at a conference dedicated to reflecting on Castro's thought in the context of the centenary of his birth, Prieto stressed that the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution represented a deeply communal faith, free from dogmatism and focused on justice, solidarity, and the defense of the oppressed.

"It was not a faith confined to canons or temples, but rather a living spirituality committed to transforming the world," he asserted.

In his remarks, Prieto, who is also the president of Casa de las Américas, warned about the dangers of racism, hatred, and emotional manipulation that, he noted, proliferate on social media and feed a "new type of fascism, very harsh, very bitter, and terrible for humanity."

In this context, he insisted that Fidel Castro's figure stands as a more necessary ethical and spiritual reference than ever.

The event, sponsored by the Interreligious Dialogue Platform in Cuba, brought together representatives from various religious denominations, researchers, writers, journalists, government officials, and members of the Office of Religious Affairs of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

In presenting the event, Dr. Enrique Alemán, coordinator of the Platform and deputy to the National Assembly of People's Power, highlighted the importance of addressing the spiritual and humanistic dimension of the historical leader of the Revolution, whose anti-dogmatic stance promoted unity above differences regarding the national project.
